Coreweave stock is currently facing fresh concerns as investors continue to question its expansion plans. Coreweave stock has fallen 15.46% on October 14, closing on $65.78, while the yields on bonds due in 2032 climbed to around 15%. The selloff has currently put the firm’s debt and future funding into focus. Coreweave is a leading tech company operating in the cloud infrastructure domain. The business requires heavy spending on data centers and AI chips, putting it under serious pressure.

Coreweave Debt Is Putting AI Spending Habits Into Spotlight

Coreweave Debt stood at $35.6B in total as of June 30, spotlighting the heavy AI spending habits that the company is currently embroiled in. The firm is also planning to spend $35B to $39B on capital expenditure in 2026. Moreover, the company’s interest bill is another cause of concern. Coreweave’s debt crisis is now coupled with its yields on unsecured bonds due in 2032, which have now risen to around 15%.

“The reason is its debt. CoreWeave owes about $35B and paid $640M in interest last quarter alone. Investors are now dumping that debt. Its 2032 bonds have crashed more than 23% since June. Bonds trading this low are treated as distressed. Because the price fell, anyone buying these bonds now earns over 15% a year. So 15% is now what CoreWeave has to pay to borrow. That is a significant issue because the company plans to spend between $35 billion and $39 billion this year while only having $5.5 billion in cash. It has to keep borrowing to keep building.”

Despite such concerns, Coreweave’s financial outlook is still looking strong for now. Keeping the Coreweave Debt crisis aside, its second quarter business has shown a revenue backlog of $104B. This reflects the future commitments that the company has, supporting its outlook ahead.

However, the company will have to put efforts into materializing such commitments into credible revenue metrics.
