- Bitcoin price fell below $83,000 after US annual inflation reached 3.7%, exceeding expectations
- A reported $42.5 million Bitcoin short opened before CPI drew attention as sentiment remained cautious
- Ali Charts’ conditional $93,000 target would deliver a 12.53% gain from $82,641, turning $2,000 into $2,250.70 before fees and taxes
Bitcoin price fell below $83,000 after hotter-than-expected US inflation unsettled markets on October 14. The retreat puts fresh pressure on a bullish forecast pointing toward $93,000, while a reported $42.5 million short position has drawn attention to one trader’s positioning before the release. With negative commentary already outweighing optimism, buyers face a difficult question if the latest decline interrupts a recovery or leaves Bitcoin struggling to regain the ground it has lost.

BTC Price Slips Below $83,000 as US Inflation Accelerates

Bitcoin dropped to $82,691 following the inflation release. At press time, the world’s largest cryptocurrency was trading at $82,438.21 following a daily price change of a negative 1.1%.
The latest US CPI figures added another obstacle. The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported annual inflation of 3.7% in September, up from 3.4% in August. Consumer prices increased 0.6% monthly, while core inflation reached 2.6% annually.
Economists had expected headline inflation of 3.6%, according to reports. Core inflation also exceeded forecasts. S&P 500 futures turned negative after the release, showing that the reaction extended beyond crypto.
Bitcoin Whale’s Reported $42.5 Million Short Attracts Attention
Amidst this, Ash Crypto shared account data showing a BTC short position worth approximately $42.5 million, reportedly opened before CPI. The displayed trade used 13-times cross leverage, with an entry near $83,348.
This figure represents the position’s market exposure, rather than cash invested. Its timing does not establish advance knowledge of the inflation report, and any offsetting holdings remain unknown.

Sentiment was already cautious. Santiment’s recent assessment recorded just 0.82 bullish Bitcoin comments per bearish comment across X, Reddit, and Telegram. That reading preceded the inflation release.
What the $93,000 Bitcoin Price Prediction Would Mean
Ali Charts’ analysis places Bitcoin inside an ascending parallel channel. He identifies $88,000 around its midpoint and $93,000 near its upper boundary, contingent on continued upward momentum.
The higher target offers a measurable recovery scenario. Using a reference purchase price of $82,641, MarketCapOf’s calculator shows that a $2,000 investment would become $2,250.70 at $93,000. That represents a $250.70 profit, or 12.53%, before fees and taxes.

The calculation points to the return at that price but it does not establish how likely Bitcoin is to reach it. Getting to $88,000 would be the first milestone in the analyst’s outlook, with the stronger inflation reading adding uncertainty to the climb.
