AMD Stock Eyes $730 as Its 2026 Returns Outpace Nvidia

AMD Stock

AMD stock has delivered a much stronger return than Nvidia this year, leaving investors to weigh how much further the rally can run. UBS analyst Timothy Arcuri’s $730 AMD price target offers one benchmark, although the call dates back to July. A comparison of equal investments shows how wide the performance gap has become. The question now is whether AMD’s earnings and production capacity can support another advance after such a substantial gain in 2026.

AMD stock saw a slight setback over the past day. The stock dropped by 2.28% and was priced at $594.24.

Arcuri raised his target from $700 to $730 and maintained a Buy rating. A recent report linked the revision to AMD’s expanding server processor opportunity and progress on its AI systems.

Against MarketCapOf’s displayed AMD stock price of $593.36, the target implies approximately 23.03% upside. This differs from the roughly 20% cited in TipRanks’ recent roundup.

The target remains an analyst estimate. Reaching it would require investors to support a higher valuation as AMD converts customer demand into revenue and profit. Its existing rally makes delivery on those expectations increasingly important.

AMD vs. Nvidia Reveals a Wide Return Gap

MarketCapOf’s AMD vs. Nvidia comparison shows a hypothetical $1,000 investment in AMD growing to $2,655.21 over its January 1–October 13 period. This represents $1,655.21 in profit, or a 165.52% gain.

The same investment in Nvidia stock would reach $1,200.48, producing $200.48 in profit, or 20.05%. AMD leaves the hypothetical investor with $1,454.73 more.

These figures describe historical price performance over the selected period. They provide context for the bullish AMD price target, without establishing which company will deliver the stronger return from here.

Server CPU Demand Adds Longer-Term Context

Lisa Su’s earlier comments help explain the business opportunity behind AMD stock’s gains. At an investor roundtable, she outlined a server CPU market exceeding $200 billion by 2030 and reaffirmed AMD’s ambition to capture more than 50% share.

Su pointed to AI agents and expanding enterprise workloads as sources of demand for AMD EPYC processors. Those are market expectations and competitive ambitions, rather than guaranteed sales.

Manufacturing capacity will help determine how quickly that opportunity translates into shipments. During her October 6 Taiwan visit, Su said AMD would substantially increase chip supply in 2027. It was reported that discussions involved expanding CPU and GPU production through its supply chain, including TSMC. For investors assessing $730, that production ramp is a concrete development to watch alongside future earnings.
