Nvidia Expands Telecom AI Push as Firmus Funding Talks Emerge

Nvidia stock

Nvidia’s next growth opportunity could sit inside the mobile networks people already use every day. A new milestone with Nokia and T-Mobile brings its AI computing technology closer to commercial telecom operations, giving investors watching Nvidia stock another market to assess. Meanwhile, reported funding discussions with an Australian cloud provider highlight the capital needed to keep AI infrastructure expanding. The developments show where demand grows next, and who pays for it.

Nvidia and Nokia Bring AI-RAN to a Live Network

Nokia announced on October 21 that it had completed what it described as the world’s first AI-RAN call on a live network with T-Mobile and Nvidia. Testing on an operating network puts the technology next to real spectrum and commercial infrastructure. It moves beyond controlled laboratory conditions. It remains a deployment milestone, rather than evidence of a nationwide rollout.

AI-RAN allows radio-network processing and AI workloads to share computing infrastructure. For operators, that could mean using network sites to process AI requests closer to customers while continuing to provide mobile connectivity.

The Nvidia AI expansion extends beyond T-Mobile. Nvidia says nine operators across Europe, the Middle East and Africa are building or expanding infrastructure powered by its technology. BT, Deutsche Telekom and Elisa have also announced live-network AI-RAN pilots.

For NVDA stock, the commercial question is how quickly these projects become recurring orders. Pilots demonstrate capability, and widespread adoption requires operators to justify the spending.

Firmus Funding Talks Add a Financing Question

Nvidia is discussing investing hundreds of millions of dollars in Firmus. The Australian AI cloud provider shelved its planned $5 billion IPO earlier this month. Several reports linked the withdrawal to growing investor scrutiny of AI valuations and infrastructure investment. This $5 billion represented the intended fundraising, not the company’s valuation.

The Firmus funding discussions remain separate from the telecom announcement, but both matter to Nvidia’s expansion. It means new uses for its computing technology still need customers able to finance deployment.

Nokia Has Outpaced Nvidia This Year

The partners’ share-price performances offer another comparison. MarketCapOf’s calculator, covering January 1 through October 21, shows a hypothetical $2,000 investment growing to $3,029.94 in Nokia, versus $2,292.24 in Nvidia.

Those results imply gains of approximately 51.50% and 14.61%, respectively, putting Nokia ahead by $737.70 on equal starting investments.

The performance predates the latest announcement. Whether the telecom partnership sustains investor interest will depend on commercial deployments, while the outcome of Firmus’s financing discussions remains another development to watch.
