- Standard Chartered launched institutional RLUSD custody through its DIFC branch, with collateral integration alongside Ripple and LMAX still in development
- Evernorth holds approximately 473 million XRP, while Ali Charts reported whale accumulation of around 45 million XRP over 72 hours
- October’s $2 odds stood at 5.4%, reaching that price would yield a hypothetical 41.84% gain from a $1.41 entry
XRP price touched $1.42 as Standard Chartered announced that institutions can now hold Ripple USD through its regulated Dubai branch. The bank’s announcement adds another service around the XRP Ledger, with plans extending beyond safekeeping into trading collateral. For XRP holders, the question is how much that expanding infrastructure will matter to demand. The token’s recovery remains modest, even as banks and public-market investors build new ways into the ecosystem.

Standard Chartered Opens RLUSD Custody to Institutions

Standard Chartered RLUSD custody is available to eligible clients through its DIFC branch, regulated by the Dubai Financial Services Authority. The service covers Ripple USD issued on the XRP Ledger.
The bank is also working with Ripple and LMAX Group on a collateral arrangement. Under the proposed model, institutions could keep RLUSD with Standard Chartered while its collateral value is mirrored to LMAX, avoiding a transfer of the underlying tokens to the trading venue. Waqar Chaudry, Global Head of Digital Assets, Securities Services, Transaction Services, Standard Chartered, said,
“Institutional clients want to participate in digital asset markets without compromising on how their assets are safeguarded or how risk is managed. The ecosystem must therefore make it easier for clients to hold assets securely, access liquidity and deploy collateral efficiently within trusted frameworks.”
Those capabilities still require documentation, testing, and approvals. Custody is live, and the collateral integration remains in development. The announcement concerns a dollar stablecoin and does not disclose a bank purchase of XRP.

Evernorth and Whales Add to the XRP Story
Institutional access is widening elsewhere. Evernorth’s announcement scheduled XRPN stock to begin Nasdaq trading on October 12 after its merger closed October 9.
Evernorth’s XRP holdings stood at approximately 473 million tokens at closing, alongside $300 million in gross cash proceeds. Those tokens were already held, rather than newly bought on listing day.
Separately, Ali Charts reported XRP whale accumulation of around 45 million tokens over 72 hours. Growing balances suggest accumulation among the tracked wallets, but do not guarantee a sustained XRP price rally.
XRP Price Prediction Markets Remain Cautious
At press time, XRP was near $1.41, up 1.1% over 24 hours. A Polymarket panel gave a 31.5% probability of reaching $1.60 during October, 10.5% for $1.80, and just 5.4% for $2.
These XRP price prediction readings concern touching each threshold during the month, rather than closing October there. The low $2 odds show traders still expect a substantial hurdle.

MarketCapOf’s crypto profit calculator puts that hurdle in dollar terms. A hypothetical $2,000 investment at $1.41 would reach $2,836.88 at a $2 XRP price, yielding $836.88 profit, or 41.84%. This is the advance buyers would need, even with institutional developments gathering pace.
