The meeting’s agenda revolved around strengthening crypto legislation standards in the US. President Trump urged Congress to pass a “fair version” of the CLARITY Act. He later argued that the US needs clear crypto rules to remain ahead of China.

At the same time, Trump made a clear Bitcoin comment, bolstering the bull case for the Bitcoin price. Trump stated that discussions had taken place regarding the purchase of “sizable” amounts of Bitcoin and that he would “certainly listen” to the development.

This does not directly imply that the US will start purchasing Bitcoin. However, the comment has certainly presented a bullish flavor for the Bitcoin price, strengthening its core trajectory. Trump also described Bitcoin as a permanent asset of the US Treasury.

SEC and CFTC Move Towards Crypto Regulation

The meeting brought together the SEC and CFTC alongside major crypto and financial industry figures. While the SEC is pursuing a more modern regulatory approach, the CFTC is expanding its work around crypto markets and derivatives.

The CFTC has already approved the first “true” Bitcoin perpetual futures contract as a regulated futures product. The agency’s Innovation Advisory Committee is also set to meet on August 20 to discuss crypto assets, AI, and prediction markets further.

What’s Next for Bitcoin Price?

The Bitcoin price has responded strongly to the changes listed above. The asset price briefly touched the $70K mark before coming back to around $66K. At the same time, BTC’s move toward $70K took it to its highest level since early June, pressing on investors’ hope that the token may very well recover soon from its recent decline.

For Bitcoin bulls, the biggest catalysts are no longer just price action. Progress on the CLARITY Act, with the government trying its best to establish clear crypto rules, is what is adding more momentum to the Bitcoin price. Potential Bitcoin purchases and continued institutional support may eventually increase once clear crypto rules are established. This may help Bitcoin’s price gain a better trajectory, improving its future prospects of hitting new price levels.
