Nvidia Stock Rides $99 Billion Equity Portfolio as Huang Joins King Charles Summit

Nvidia stock

Nvidia stock is usually judged on chip demand, data center sales, and how quickly each new GPU reaches customers. Its latest filings add a different figure to that calculation. Nvidia equity investments were valued at $99 billion at the end of July, up from roughly $7 billion a year earlier. Jensen Huang is now taking that influence into a private AI gathering hosted by King Charles, but the portfolio behind it deserves a closer look first.

Nvidia stock traded at $230.36 on September 8, up 2.02% over five days. The chart shows the sharpest move arriving on September 4, followed by a gradual pullback, although the shares held most of their weekly gain.

The $99 billion represents the value of Nvidia’s equity portfolio, not the amount spent over the past year. It includes public holdings, private companies, and equity-method investments, alongside gains recorded across those assets. Another $25 billion had been committed to future equity investments as of July 26.

The portfolio is already showing up in Nvidia’s results. Its latest SEC filing shows $23.7 billion in net equity gains during the first half of fiscal 2027, compared with $2.1 billion a year earlier. Equity purchases reached $42.4 billion, up from $1.25 billion.

Nvidia can support that pace because its core business continues to throw off cash. Operating cash flow reached $74.4 billion over six months. Second-quarter revenue more than doubled to $96.2 billion, including $89 billion from data centers.

There is an unusual financial loop here. Nvidia backs AI developers, cloud providers, and infrastructure companies, some of which buy or use its systems. Their growth can lift Nvidia’s portfolio while creating demand for its hardware.

Huang now argues that the chips themselves should be viewed as financial assets. He highlighted Ornn data showing that the live rental price of Nvidia’s three-year-old H100 had climbed 22% in a month to $3.28 an hour. He called Nvidia compute “fungible, durable and highly rentable,” as well as a productive asset capable of generating revenue.

This pricing supports the case for extending a chip’s useful financial life. It also depends on rental demand staying firm as newer processors enter the market.

Jensen Huang Heads to King Charles Gathering

The Nvidia chief is expected to join King Charles at a closed-door gathering at Dumfries House in Scotland. DeepMind’s Demis Hassabis and UK ministers are reportedly among roughly 30 invited guests.

No contract has been announced around the meeting. Its relevance for NVDA stock is access. Governments are spending on sovereign computing, energy and data centers, placing Nvidia near the officials shaping that investment.

The $99 billion portfolio strengthens Nvidia’s reach, but it also ties shareholders more closely to the financial health of the AI market it supplies.
