Ripple Wall Street Push Gains New Strength

The Ripple Wall Street story has gained new traction as of late. The company recently entered the swap financing business for leveraged ETFs. This aspect of the business involves providing financing, clearing, and brokerage services for funds that use derivatives to increase exposure to stocks and indexes. Ripple entered into this arena by acquiring Hidden Road for $1.25B. Following the acquisition, Hidden Road now operates as Ripple Prime. Ripple Prime has since started delivering these services to ETF and hedge fund providers. Ripple Prime has recently struck a deal with Brevan Howard, providing prime brokerage, clearing, and financing services to the asset manager’s funds.
This has put Ripple closer to Wall Street firms, which had earlier dominated this sector. Per a recent WSJ report, Ripple and other non-banks are now gaining ground in this space, as traditional banks face tighter rules around the risks that they can take.
