Ethereum Price Faces $2,700 as Early Whale Sells Ahead of Glamsterdam

Ethereum price

The Ethereum price is hovering near a level one analyst says could decide its next move. At the same time, a wallet that bought ETH for less than $19 eight years ago has been selling into the market. The owner has already parted with most of the original position, though a substantial balance remains. Traders looking toward $3,000 have a nearer hurdle to clear first, and the whale’s latest sale has put that hurdle under a sharper spotlight.

ETH Whale Sells 2,000 Coins as Traders Watch $2,700 Price Level

The wallet’s history is notable. According to Lookonchain, it acquired 3,000 ETH at about $18.80 apiece, spending roughly $56,500. It sold another 1,000 ETH on September 29 for approximately $2.68 million, bringing its reported sales to 2,000 ETH worth $6.19 million. The wallet still holds 1,000 ETH, valued at about $2.67 million when Lookonchain posted its figures.

The remaining balance matters more to the immediate market than the wallet’s extraordinary entry price. The holder has taken substantial gains and could sell again, but there is no evidence that another sale is planned. Lookonchain’s roughly $8.8 million profit figure includes the value of coins still in the wallet. It should not be read as cash already realized.

In addition, analyst Ali Charts has pointed to $2,640 as support and $2,700 as the level to watch. His ETH price prediction is conditional. An hourly close above $2,700 could strengthen a short-term bull flag setup and bring $3,000 into view. A chart pattern offers a trading scenario, rather than a timetable or a guarantee.

Ethereum Glamsterdam Upgrade Heads to Sepolia

The next firm date on Ethereum’s calendar is October 6. This is when the Ethereum roadmap schedules the Glamsterdam upgrade to reach the Sepolia testnet. Developers use Sepolia to test changes before deploying them on the live network. Ethereum has not confirmed a mainnet date.

Glamsterdam’s planned changes include moving the separation of block proposers and builders into Ethereum’s protocol, introducing block-level access lists to help nodes process data more efficiently, and adjusting some gas costs. The work is aimed at expanding network capacity without placing unsustainable demands on the computers that run it.

For now, the Sepolia test and the whale sale are separate developments. The nearer price test is $2,700. The whale’s remaining 1,000 ETH leaves traders with another transaction to watch while they wait to see whether ETH can get through it.
