- One trader spent about $170,000 buying LAPTOP token after its initial 98% price crash, only to see the position fall to roughly $21,000
- Bubblemaps data shows around 80% of tracked LAPTOP traders were underwater after the launch, with more than 11,000 wallets losing under $1,000
- Hunter Biden’s team blamed sniper bots and thin liquidity for the volatility and said 4 million LAPTOP tokens would be added to Aerodrome liquidity pools
The LAPTOP token price had already collapsed about 98% when one trader decided the selloff had gone far enough. It had not. Onchain data shows the wallet spent roughly $170,000 buying Hunter Biden’s memecoin after its launch-day plunge, only for the position to lose most of its value again. The trade adds another layer to a chaotic debut that has already left thousands of buyers underwater and raised questions about just how thin the market was.

LAPTOP Token Price Keeps Falling After 98% Crash

The LAPTOP token launched on Base on Wednesday and quickly became one of the day’s most volatile trades. MarketWatch reported that it rose from an initial reference price near $37 to above $200 before falling to around $1.80 later in the session. Trading volume reached roughly $39 million. At press time, the asset was trading at $0.8518 following a 96.9%
Amidst this, the trader bought 28,448.72 LAPTOP at an average price of $5.97, spending about $170,000 after the initial collapse. The position was later worth just $21,000, leaving the wallet down roughly $149,000, or another 87%, on paper.
The damage was hardly limited to one wallet. Bubblemaps found that roughly 80% of tracked traders were losing money after the launch. More than 11,000 wallets had losses below $1,000, while two traders were down between $100,000 and $1 million. The Washington Post also reported that the token supply was highly concentrated before trading began.

Hunter Biden Team Blames Sniper Bots and Thin Liquidity
The LAPTOP Biden team has pushed back against claims of a rug pull, blaming sniper bots and insufficient liquidity for the violent launch. Hunter Biden has separately said he has not made a “single dollar” from the token.
The project is now trying to deepen liquidity, including plans to direct 4 million LAPTOP tokens toward Aerodrome pools. For the trader who bought after the first crash, however, better liquidity came too late. The trade is a sharp reminder that a 98% fall does not necessarily mean a memecoin has found its floor.
