Anthropic IPO Could Make 4,257 People Millionaires as Pre-IPO Trading Implies $1.8T Valuation

Anthropic IPO

The Anthropic IPO has employees and early backers calculating what their stakes might be worth. One estimate puts thousands of people above the million-dollar mark, with much larger fortunes possible for the founders. But the Anthropic valuation behind those calculations remains unsettled. On Liquid, traders have been marking down a contract tied to the company’s expected worth. This leaves a notable gap between the richest IPO case and a cautious bet before the listing.

Thousands Could Hold Million-Dollar Stakes

Private markets platform Hill estimates that an Anthropic IPO could leave 4,257 people with holdings worth at least $1 million, according to reports. Around 50 employees could hold more than $100 million, roughly 1,200 could fall in the $10 million–$99 million bracket, and another 3,000 could hold between $1 million and $9 million.

The tally also includes seven co-founders who are already billionaires. Calling all 4,257 newly minted millionaires would overstate what the estimate shows.

These would be paper fortunes. Employees’ eventual proceeds depend on their grants, exercise costs, taxes, and when they can sell. A large valuation on listing day does not put the same amount into their bank accounts.

Anthropic’s October 26 SEC filing begins the public offering process, but its preliminary terms remain subject to change. The widely discussed $2 trillion valuation is a scenario and not a final IPO price established in the prospectus.

Anthropic’s Pre-IPO Trading Puts a Different Price on the Story

Recent data showed the Anthropic-linked perpetual contract down 7.87% over a week, implying a valuation of approximately $1.8 trillion. That is about $200 billion below the $2 trillion scenario, which is a 10% difference. The weekly contract decline and that valuation gap measure different things.

The AI IPO therefore has two separate stories running alongside it. One has employees anticipating potentially substantial wealth, and traders adjusting what they are willing to pay for speculative exposure.

The final offering price will provide a firmer basis for those wealth calculations. Until then, the millionaire count is an estimate and the falling contract is one market’s assessment of an offering still being priced.
