Its homebuilding division focuses on acquiring and developing land parcels, both finished lots and raw land, to construct and market single-family detached residences. These homes are primarily sold to first-time purchasers and individuals upgrading from their initial homes, all under the well-known Richmond American Homes brand. The company's residential development activities span a wide geographic area, encompassing Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Washington, Colorado, Idaho, Utah, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Tennessee, and Florida. Complementing its construction efforts, MDC's financial services arm offers a range of supporting solutions. This includes originating mortgage loans, predominantly for its own homebuyers, and providing crucial insurance coverage to its homebuilding units and their subcontractors for sold properties and completed development work. Furthermore, it functions as a reinsurer for various claims, distributes third-party personal property and casualty insurance to new homeowners, and delivers title agency services to both its homebuilding divisions and external clients in specific states such as Colorado, Florida, Maryland, Nevada, and Virginia. Established in 1972, M.D.C. Holdings, Inc. maintains its corporate headquarters in Denver, Colorado.
