The company's operations are divided into three primary segments: Authentication Systems, Secure Transactions, and Banknote Cleaning. Its Authentication Systems division offers complete solutions, featuring proprietary taggant materials and sensor technology to validate the authenticity of banknotes for central banks and ensure the security of passports for G7 nations. This segment also provides brand protection services and supplies a variety of optical materials for security and quality control, including fluorescent, phosphorescent, invisible pigments and dyes, and gasochromic response materials, along with custom materials and hardware. The Secure Transactions segment develops internal control mechanisms to confirm the precision and integrity of transactions handled by lottery and gaming operators. Through its Banknote Cleaning division, the company provides advanced dry-process cleaning and disinfection systems that employ supercritical CO2 to efficiently eliminate sebum and other foreign substances from banknotes. Additionally, Spectra Systems manufactures high-speed currency authentication sensors, quality control equipment for the production of both paper and polymer banknotes, and machinery for security printing and hologram manufacturing. The company, initially known as Spectra Science Corporation, rebranded to Spectra Systems Corporation in June 2001.
