Mechel PAO is a diversified industrial group, operating through its subsidiaries in the mining, steel production, and power generation sectors. Its geographical footprint extends across Russia, Asia, Europe, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), and other international markets. The company structures its operations into three primary divisions: Steel, Mining, and Power. Within the Steel segment, Mechel manufactures and distributes a comprehensive range of products. These include semi-finished steel goods, various types of carbon and specialty long products, carbon and stainless flat products, as well as high-value-added downstream metal items such as forgings, stampings, hardware, railway components (rails), and ferrosilicon. The Mining segment is responsible for the extraction and sale of coking and steam coals, middlings, coke and chemical derivatives, and iron ore concentrate. The Power segment's activities involve generating and supplying electricity and thermal energy to external customers. Additionally, the company offers transshipment logistics and electricity distribution services. Initially established in 2003, the company underwent a name change from Mechel OAO to Mechel PAO in March 2016. Its corporate headquarters are situated in Moscow, Russia.
