Its primary investigational drug, Lonafarnib, an orally administered small molecule, is currently undergoing Phase III clinical trials for the treatment of hepatitis delta virus (HDV) infection. Other promising candidates in its portfolio include Lambda, which has completed Phase II clinical trials and is designed to target type III interferon receptors; Lonafarnib, also being evaluated for progeria and progeroid laminopathies; and Avexitide, an agent for congenital hyperinsulinism that has also successfully concluded Phase II studies for post-bariatric hypoglycemia. Established in 2008, Eiger BioPharmaceuticals, Inc. maintains its headquarters in Palo Alto, California.
