Founded in 2001, initially operating under the name Touchstone Resources USA, Inc., the corporation was based in Houston, Texas. Financial difficulties led Cygnus Oil & Gas Corp. to file a voluntary petition for Chapter 11 reorganization with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas, Houston, on April 3, 2007. This reorganization effort was subsequently converted into a Chapter 11 liquidation, which gained approval on September 19, 2007.
