Biotest AG is a German biopharmaceutical company focused on the global development, manufacturing, and commercialization of biological medications. The firm organizes its activities into the Therapy, Plasma & Services, and Other segments. Its product portfolio addresses critical needs in hematology, clinical immunology, and intensive care medicine. Among its offerings are treatments for hemophilia A (such as Haemoctin and Vihuma) and hemophilia B (like Haemonine), covering both acute care and prevention. Biotest also provides therapies for various viral infections, including cytomegalovirus (Cytotect CP), hepatitis B (Fovepta, Hepatect, Zutectra), and varicella zoster (Varitect). Additionally, its products, such as Intratect and IgG Next Generation, are utilized for primary and secondary immune deficiencies, autoimmune disorders, and certain neurological conditions. The company further supplies solutions to manage circulating blood volume (Albiomin, Biseko), address clotting factor deficiencies (Cofact, Fibrinogen), and combat serious infections like community-acquired pneumonia and COVID-19 (Trimodulin), as well as general bacterial infections (Pentaglobin). Established in 1946 as Biotest Serum-Institut GmbH, the company adopted its current name, Biotest Aktiengesellschaft, in 1986. Headquartered in Dreieich, Germany, Biotest Aktiengesellschaft has been operating as a subsidiary of Grifols, S.A. since January 21, 2022.
