Its activities are organized into four primary divisions: Exploration and Production, Refining and Chemicals, Marketing, and Natural Gas and Pipeline. The Exploration and Production segment is dedicated to discovering, developing, extracting, and selling crude oil and natural gas. Within Refining and Chemicals, the company processes crude oil and various petroleum products, alongside manufacturing and distributing a wide array of petrochemicals, encompassing primary, derivative, and other chemical products. The Marketing division focuses on the commercialization of refined products and engages in trading. The company's portfolio also extends to the exploration, development, and production of oil sands and coalbed methane; trading of crude oil and petrochemicals; managing storage facilities, chemical engineering, service stations, and transportation logistics; and the production and sale of various basic and derivative chemical products. Founded in 1999, PetroChina is headquartered in Beijing, People's Republic of China, and functions as a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation.
