The company conducts its operations through two distinct divisions: Sorrento Therapeutics and Scilex. For cancer treatment, Sorrento employs its unique G-MAB antibody library alongside sophisticated targeted delivery methods. These include chimeric and dimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) therapies, antibody-drug conjugates, and bispecific antibody strategies. These encompass an anti-CD38 CAR-T therapy targeting multiple myeloma, amyloidosis, and graft-versus-host disease. The company is also advancing resiniferatoxin, a non-opioid TRPV1 agonist neurotoxin, for managing pain associated with late-stage cancer and osteoarthritis of the knee. Furthermore, ZTlido, a lidocaine delivery system, addresses postherpetic neuralgia. In the realm of pain management, SEMDEXA, an injectable viscous gel, is undergoing Phase III trials for sciatica (a form of lower back pain); SP-103, an experimental non-aqueous lidocaine topical system, is being developed for chronic low back pain; and SP-104 is a novel, low-dose, delayed-release naltrexone hydrochloride formulation for fibromyalgia. The company maintains several strategic collaborations, including a partnership with SmartPharm Therapeutics Inc. for a gene-encoded antibody vaccine against COVID-19, and with Celularity, Inc. for a Phase I/II clinical trial involving up to 94 COVID-19 patients. Additionally, Sorrento works with Mount Sinai Health System on COVI-SHIELD, an antibody treatment for SARS-CoV-2 infection, and with Mayo Clinic on a Phase Ib pilot study utilizing Sofusa technology for Ipilimumab delivery in melanoma patients.
