The company's activities are strategically organized into two primary divisions: Lithium-Ion Solutions & Microbatteries, and Household Batteries. Within the Lithium-Ion Solutions & Microbatteries segment, Varta offers specialized zinc-air batteries, predominantly used in hearing aid devices. It also provides lithium-ion power supplies for applications such as wireless headphones and various wearables, including medical devices for monitoring health parameters like hypertension and blood sugar, along with powering COVID-19 antibody tests. This division additionally supplies rechargeable battery systems to industrial partners and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) for a wide spectrum of uses, including servers, car remote controls, security alarms, and smart meters. Furthermore, the segment undertakes the development, system integration, and assembly of lithium-ion battery packs for portable industrial and communication equipment, electric power tools, home and garden devices, and medical instruments. The Household Batteries segment delivers a comprehensive portfolio of consumer products, encompassing standard household batteries, rechargeable cells, chargers, power banks, illumination products, and residential energy storage systems. Founded in 1887, Varta AG is headquartered in Ellwangen, Germany, and functions as a subsidiary of Montana Tech Components AG.
