Additionally, the company is conducting preclinical development for ReShape Diabetes Bloc-Stim Neuromodulation, a technology intended for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Among its offerings is the Obalon Balloon System, a swallowable capsule used to monitor and display the balloon's exact position during its placement. The company, initially incorporated as EnteroMedics Inc., changed its name to ReShape Lifesciences Inc. in 2017.
