It also engages in the design, development, manufacturing, sale, and marketing of networked video communications products; and development, prosecution, maintenance, support, and generation of licensing revenue through license or sale of intellectual property and technology. In addition, the company is involved in the provision of installation, maintenance, training, and support services, including product training, deployment assistance, custom product enhancements, and custom onsite support. It sells its products through direct sales force, strategic partners, and value-added resellers. The company was formerly known as Avistar Systems Corporation and changed its name to Avistar Communications Corporation in April 2000. Avistar Communications Corporation was founded in 1993 and is headquartered in San Mateo, California.
