The company's business is structured into two primary divisions: Residential and Lifestyle Services. It offers a comprehensive range of senior living options, encompassing independent living residences, assisted living facilities, specialized memory care units, continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs), skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), and active adult living arrangements. Beyond housing, AlerisLife provides essential medical and wellness care, including nursing and healthcare services, as well as outpatient rehabilitation therapies and health-promoting fitness programs. As of December 31, 2021, the company's portfolio consisted of 141 senior living properties across 28 U.S. states. These facilities collectively provided 20,105 living units. This total included 10,423 independent living apartments and 9,636 assisted living suites, with 1,872 of those dedicated to its Bridge to Rediscovery memory care program. Additionally, the company managed a single Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) comprising 106 living units, 46 of which were skilled nursing facility beds. Initially incorporated in 2001, the entity operated under the name Five Star Senior Living Inc. before rebranding as AlerisLife Inc. in January 2022. Its corporate headquarters are located in Newton, Massachusetts.
