This service is supported by nine storage concessions within Italy, specifically five in Lombardy, three in Emilia-Romagna, and one in Abruzzo. Beyond its core gas activities, Snam diversifies its portfolio with offerings such as the leasing and upkeep of fiber optic telecommunication cables. It also provides integrated services for natural gas-powered vehicles, develops energy efficiency solutions for diverse sectors—including residential, industrial, commercial, and public administration—and manages biogas and biomethane production plants. Furthermore, the company extends its expertise through engineering and project management services, alongside overseeing infrastructure planning. While headquartered in San Donato Milanese, Italy, Snam's operational reach extends to numerous countries, including Albania, Austria, China, Egypt, France, Greece, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Established in 1941, the company was formerly known as Snam Rete Gas S.p.A. before adopting its current name, Snam S.p.A., in January 2012.
