Its operations are structured across three distinct platforms: an Oncology Innovation Platform, a Global Supply Chain Platform, and a Commercial Platform. Among its leading product candidates is the Orascovery series, featuring oral paclitaxel combined with encequidar – an innovative oral formulation. This product is currently undergoing a Phase III clinical trial for metastatic breast cancer, alongside earlier-stage studies for cutaneous angiosarcoma, advanced gastric cancer, and various other advanced solid malignancies. Additionally, Athenex offers Src Kinase inhibitors, exemplified by Tirbanibulin ointments, which are being developed for the treatment of actinic keratosis, certain skin cancers, and psoriasis. The company's pipeline further includes several advanced cell therapy programs. KUR-501, an autologous product, is in a Phase I clinical trial addressing relapsed-refractory (R/R) high-risk neuroblastoma in pediatric patients. KUR-502, an allogeneic product, is also in a Phase I clinical trial, targeting R/R CD19 positive malignancies in adults, such as B cell lymphoma, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, and chronic lymphocytic leukemia. For advanced hepatocellular carcinomas, Athenex is progressing KUR-503, an allogeneic product in preclinical development. Moreover, TCRT-ESO-A2, an autologous T cell receptor (TCR)-T cell therapy, is undergoing a Phase 1 clinical trial for solid tumors. Beyond these, Athenex is developing novel dual absorption enhancers designed to obstruct the P-gp transporter and cytochrome p450 3A enzymes within the gastrointestinal tract. It also possesses a robust portfolio of T cell receptors engineered to identify hotspot mutations in genes like p53, KRAS, and EGFR, applicable across multiple tumor types. Tracing its origins, the company was established in 2003 and was initially known as Kinex Pharmaceuticals LLC before officially adopting the name Athenex, Inc. in August 2015. Its corporate headquarters are situated in Buffalo, New York.
